Engine 18 and Rescue 20 along with 20 volunteers and Genesee County Emergency management office personnel attended an aircraft rescue and firefighting class at the Monroe County training facility on Scottsville road in Rochester. The course consisted of both classroom (AM) and hands on (PM). Topics covered and practiced were making and applying foam, other extinguishing agents, search and rescue, cargo hold fires, wheel and brake fires, and large spill fires. The crews spent 8 hours drilling on all the scenarios. Thanks to our instructors, Bill Wildey, Don Harter, Todd Bane, Mike Sullivan, Mitch Flagg and last but not least "Chief " Ralph Privitere for sharing their knowledge and skills, also to The Genesee County emergency management office (GCEMO), for sponsoring and coordinating the training. With this training, we will be more efficient in our responses to the Genesee County airport (TBFD first due), and to the guests that use it.
